Bright Eyes: Five Dice, All Threes
with Hurray For The Riff Raff
at the aztec theatre - san antonio
Sad music filled the Aztec Theatre last night, but honestly, everyone in attendance was so happy to be a part of it. Bright Eyes made a return trip to San Antonio for their Five Dice, All Threes Tour, bringing along special guests Hurray for the Riff Raff. Fronted by singer-songwriter Alynda Segarra, the songwriting and melodies of the songs have a unique sound to them that blends folk and Americana with elements of pop and punk. Trust us when we say, the genre combo works.
The hall started to fill up steadily as the night went on, and really, before we knew it, there were hundreds of people around us ready for the main event of the evening. Once the crowd caught a glimpse of Conor Oberst, there was an energy in the air that you could almost physically touch. The six-piece took to the stage to a roar of cheers, joining the already packed space filled with various guitar stands, pianos, and synthesizers placed about. With a setlist of a mix of new and old songs, crowds of all levels of listenership were able to hear some of their favorite tracks live, maybe even for the first time. The collaborative effort of the band as they switched instruments and, even between lead and backup vocals, was an impressive feat to watch and we can definitely understand why people came out to the show that night. We sure enjoyed ourselves, and we hope everyone in attendance did too!
