Gary Clark Jr's highly anticipated show at the Aztec Theatre this past Friday was completely sold-out, packed to the brim with fans from all across the city. We got the chance to check out the show, and what a show it was. The theatre filled up quickly, even before the opening act, Grace Bowers, took the stage.

Speaking of the 18-year-old award-winning guitarist, Bowers displayed such maturity within her playing, with a presence that made it hard to believe she didn't have decades of playing experience under her belt. Jamming along with her band, the improvisation between each member's addition to the song flowed so easily that it seemed like second nature. For those who weren't aware of the young musician before the show, it would be hard to deny that a lasting impression was left on everyone who experienced Grace Bowers putting on a masterclass on the guitar that night.

As the minutes passed before the man of the night made his appearance, a thick layer of fog rolled in and started to settle onto the stage. The crowd began shouting and cheering in anticipation as each band member took to the stage. As soon as Gary Clark Jr made his way out through the fog, the energy within the hall turned up to 100%. The music started with a crescendo and there was no turning back. Clark Jr has an intoxicating stage presence and his abilities are impressive, to say the least; the way his fingers moved along the fretboard of his guitar with absolute ease. His blues-drenched songs lean into soul and rock, putting his incredible guitar-playing skills to good use. The Grammy award-winning Austinite wowed and wooed the crowd in a way that still has us thinking about the show days after. In our opinion, a must-see concert to see if one should get the chance.
