Machine Head and In Flames
at the Aztec Theatre
The theme of the evening: HAIR. And lots of it. A special selection of metal groups overtook the Aztec Theatre, with a lineup consisting of metalcore outfit Unearth, Italian gothic-metal band Lacuna Coil (swoon), Swedish heavy metal group and co-headliner In Flames, and of course, Machine f*cking Head.
It was hard not to get caught up in the whirlwind of the evening, what with fans decked out in leather, spikes, and meticulously crafted hairdos. Even the musicians tossed their long locks too and fro. It felt like a resurgence of metal fashion from the late 80s with a dash of modern-day influences, and honestly, we're here for it. The stomach-turning thumps of the bass droned throughout the theatre the entire night and our ears were ringing even after leaving the show that night (PSA to wear ear protection, folks!)
Metal is alive and well, and was a spectacle to behold within the Aztec Theatre that night, setting the perfect stage for the following night's show: Obituary. Stay tuned for our recap on that show!
