The Sports Fan’s Guide to Fiesta

Fiesta is almost here in San Antonio! Kicking off April 24th and running through May 4th, the festival promises to bring all the captivating parades and pageantry San Antonians have come to expect each year.


While there are plenty of ways to celebrate Fiesta, Do210 Sports encourages you to keep an eye out for these exciting athletic opportunities throughout the festival. Even though standbys like UTSA’s Fiesta spring football game and Fiesta FitFest aren’t on deck this year, there’s still tons of exciting and intriguing sports outings available at Fiesta:

Runs and Walks:


Our Lady of the Lake University Confetti 5K Run/Walk

Our Lady of the Lake University Main Building on April 26th from 7:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Admission: $40 online/$45 on race day, free for kids fun run


Held on the college’s main campus, Our Lady of the Lake University hosts this annual event each year, divided into a 5K run/walk and a kids fun run. With 300 pounds of confetti used for the event, there’s no doubt this could be a colorful, family-friendly addition to your Fiesta.


Walk for Autism

Palo Alto College on April 26th from 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Admission: Free (Donation Options Available)


Now in its 21st year, Walk for Autism raises awareness and support for families with children on the autism spectrum through its organizer, Any Baby Can of Southwest Texas. The walk draws in 10,000 annual participants. Join in to support a great cause during Autism Awareness Month!


Alpha Pi Zeta Fiesta Track Meet

Sam Houston High School on April 26th from 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Admission: Free


Hosted since 1984, this annual track meet for children ages 5-12 is co-organized by the San Antonio Fiesta Commission and the Alpha Pi Zeta chapter of the Zeta Phi Beta sorority. It’s a great opportunity to get your kids involved in some energetic Fiesta fun!


Run to Remember

Comanche Park on May 3rd from 7:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Admission: $15-$60 depending on the run


Enjoy a 5K, 10K or beer run at this annual event, with all proceeds benefitting the Alzheimer’s Association of San Antonio and South Texas. All 5K and 10K finishers will receive a medal and shirt, with beer run participants receiving a shirt and a mug. There will even be a kids 0.5K with medals and shirts as well, making this a fun event for the entire family.


The Starfish Dash 5K Run/Walk and Health Fair

UT Health San Antonio on May 3rd from 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.

Admission: Free (Donation Options Available)


Get together a team, dress up in fun costumes and head out for The Starfish Dash in support of The Chromosome 18 Registry & Research Society! The free, family-friendly event includes a 5K run/walk, a 100-yard dash for kids, live music, cosplayers, face painting and a health fair with different wellness tests available. There will also be coffee, donuts, snacks and water for participants.


Fiesta de los Spurs Fun Run

Parade Route on May 3rd from 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Admission: $45 until 4/26 and $50 after until registration closes, $10 kids 11-and-under


Spurs fans, this one is for you! Spurs Give hosts this 3.1-mile fun run through the Fiesta Flambeau Night Parade route. Enjoy a costume contest, prizes, photo ops, live music and special guest appearances during the event, with the first 1,000 finishers also earning a medal.

47th Annual Fiesta Women & Co-Ed Soccer Tournament

Star Soccer Complex on April 26th-27th from 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Admission: Free


With nine fields of soccer action, food trucks, and a kid's playground, this annual tournament promises to be a great opportunity to watch some exciting games with the whole family. The Women’s Soccer Association of San Antonio organizes the tournament to raise support for its athletes and programming. The opening games run all day on April 26, with the semi-finals and finals taking place the next day.


Fiesta Kings Cup Polo Party

San Antonio Polo Club on April 26th from noon - 4:00 p.m.

Admission: Chair - $200, Table - $1,600, VIP Table - $2,400


Dress to the nines for an afternoon on the polo grounds during this Fiesta staple. Admission includes a luncheon, two drink tickets and access to a fancy hat contest, silent auction and table games, all while taking in several matches of “the sport of kings.”


Mission Reach Flotilla Fiesta

Acequia Park on April 27th from 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Admission: Free


As the official kayaking event of Fiesta, Mission Reach Flotilla Fiesta includes free kayaking and a full slate of activities and entertainment. From a Fin Addict Fishing Clinic to bike and kayak decorating contests and a full live music schedule, this free Fiesta event is overflowing with fun!


First Tee Invitational

Canyon Springs Golf Club on May 1st from 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Admission: $800 for a 4-person team


Tee off at this annual golf invitational, now in its eighth year, which raises money for First Tee and its youth golf programs. The invitational will be held under “Texas Scramble” rules and includes goodie bags for all the golfers in addition to a buffet lunch and door prizes.


Fiesta Clay Target Shoot

San Antonio Gun Club on May 1st from 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Admission: $500 for a 4-person team with 50 targets


Organized by the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Alamo Chapter, this clay shooting competition raises money to support the order’s efforts to assist and aid its members in need and fund its initiatives. The event will include a meal and live auction as well as trophies for the winners.
